The Solheim Cup
U.S. Wins 2007 Solheim Cup
In 1990, Karsten and Louise Solheim's
goal of creating an international competition for women was realized with the inaugural match of The Solheim Cup. Played biennially, The Solheim Cup matches feature the top European-born players from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the top U.S.-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) competing in a format similar to the Ryder Cup.
Now the premier team event
in women's professional golf, players on both sides of the Atlantic compete for points in their respective tour events to earn a coveted spot on the team. A complete and comprehensive Solheim Cup history and record book are available on LPGA.com, listing individual and team results by year and by player. The three-day match play competition is based on a points system with 28 total points available.
